Identifying AI Opportunities

Framework for spotting AI opportunities in your role

Identifying AI Opportunities in Your Role

Now that you understand what AI can do, let's develop a framework for spotting opportunities to use AI in your specific role.

The AI Opportunity Framework

Use these questions to identify where AI can help:

1. Time Analysis

  • What tasks take up most of your time?
  • Which activities are repetitive?
  • Where do you experience bottlenecks?

2. Task Characteristics

  • Which tasks follow predictable patterns?
  • What work requires processing large amounts of information?
  • Where do you need to generate variations of similar content?

3. Value Assessment

  • Which time-consuming tasks have lower strategic value?
  • Where would saved time create the most impact?
  • What would you focus on if routine tasks were automated?

Common AI Use Cases by Role

For Knowledge Workers

  • Drafting emails and reports
  • Summarizing long documents
  • Research and information gathering
  • Meeting notes and action items

For Managers

  • Performance review drafts
  • Team communication templates
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Schedule optimization

For Creative Professionals

  • Brainstorming and ideation
  • Copy variations and A/B testing
  • Research and trend analysis
  • Formatting and organization

Your AI Action Plan

Exercise: Create your personal AI opportunity map

  1. List 5 tasks you do regularly
  2. Rate each by time consumed (1-5)
  3. Identify which have AI potential
  4. Choose 1-2 to experiment with in the next module

Moving Forward

In Module 02, we'll explore specific AI tools and learn how to integrate them into your workflow for the opportunities you've identified.
